Hybrid organic-inorganic gas sensing devices have been developed by means of supersonic beam co-deposition of titania clusters and copper phthalocyanine. This technique allows controlling the cluster size and structure as well as the kinetic properties of organic precursors, thus enabling both the room-temperature growth of nanocrystalline TiO 2 and its functionalization.
