Description:
A plasmonic environment can lead to strong enhancements of the fluorescence of an optical emitter. However, when the emitter is very close to such plasmonic systems, the description of their optical response requires to consider the interactions between electrons of the metal. We simulate numerically a dipole near metal nanostructures described with nonlocal models. We show that the spontaneous emission rate and fluorescence enhancement can be lower than anticipated with local models. In the strong coupling regime, we find that the dipole moment required to observe Rabi splitting is increased.
